If you live near or pass through the intersection of Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway, Scholls Ferry Road, and Oleson Road in the Raleigh Hills area, chances are you’ve noticed that it can be confusing and congested. Washington County is working on a project to “untangle” this intersection.

The project’s starting point was a recommended design that was developed in 1996 with participation from government partners including Metro and TriMet, the Oregon Department of Transportation, the cities of Beaverton and Portland, and an advisory committee of community members and other stakeholders.

Over the past two years, the project team has validated that the 1996 design adequately addresses the safety and congestion problems in the corridor. The team gathered new survey and traffic data and met with community stakeholders to better understand the intersection issues and conditions as they exist today. The project team completed the preliminary design on Phase 1 (see Background/Schedule) and the necessary environmental documentation.

Funding has been obtained to replace the Oleson Road bridge over Fanno Creek. Washington County will continue to seek right-of-way and construction funding for the rest of the project.
